Tapping into a Concept

Tap 42 Craft Kitchen & Bar features modern interpretations of gastropub fare with signature craft cocktails,  an extensive wine list, and more than 42 craft beers to choose from. Tap 42 was among the first concepts in South Florida to combine signature architectural design with a chef-driven menu, extensive craft beer list, and handcrafted beverage program.

Modern Restaurant Management (MRM) magazine visited with Tap 42's VP of Development Alex Rudolph at the Aventura location just prior to the pandemic. 2020 started with a strong business plan but was crippled due to the pandemic.

"The scenario was initially universal for all restaurants – no operations, renegotiating leases and furloughed employees. As restrictions subsided, delivery and takeout supported some business and luckily their menu fit well this option," he told MRM in a follow-up interview. "Constant changes to rules tested the brand but Tap 42 relied on their leadership and strong culture to rebound and envision an even brighter future. Experimenting with bottomless brunch kits, expanding outdoor dining and investing in technology for menus, online ordering and delivery, the company keeps a pulse on customer feedback via review platforms to pivot and serve its patrons with the level of quality service synonymous with the brand."

They currently operate seven locations including Aventura, Coral Gables, Midtown Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Doral, Coral Springs, and Boca Raton and are in the process of opening an eighth location in Davie, Fl.

"Restaurants operations are dynamic to say the least and will continue to shift with legislation and the pandemic, but you can’t change how people are wired," Rudolph said. "Human beings want socialization, experiential gatherings and many times this is centered around dining. That is where Tap 42 thrives and will do so moving into 2021 and beyond."
