Meat Fight® 1K Returns
1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
After a seven-year hiatus, the Meat Fight® 1K is back. Put on your race bibs (and baggiest pants) and get ready for DFW’s premier 21-and-up fun run – made all the more fun because there is literally no running! Held on Sunday, May 24 at Dallas Youth Sports, the event will be mostly indoors, in glorious air-conditioning, for the first time this year.
A spinoff of the popular, raucous Meat Fight funlanthropy event held in November, the Meat Fight 1K offers the same irreverent attitude toward a serious subject: the fight against multiple sclerosis. For the past 16 years, Meat Fight has raised money to help people living with the disease, along with research to find its cure, using off-the-wall ideas Meat Fight founder Alice Laussade and her friends and family have come up with to get people to open their wallets.
At the Meat Fight 1K, expect to eat. A lot. More than 20 local restaurants and brewers will be on hand offering their best to guests throughout the event. Hit at least 12 food stops to collect your finisher medal. Get your picture taken at the finish line, where everyone manages to win.
Participating chefs include David Peña from Fortunate Sons/Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House; Eduardo Osorio from Meridian; Andrea Shackleford from Harvest Seasonal Kitchen; and Misti Norris of Far Out. Beverage partners will include a range of local favorites such as Vector Brewing and Lockwood Distillery.
David Peña, culinary director at Fortunate Son and Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House, competed in Meat Fight, shown here in 2024. He’s among the amazing chefs who will be at Meat Fight 1K.
Three hundred VIP ticketholders will be able to attend the event an hour early, at 1 p.m., where they’ll be treated to a VIP tailgate in the parking lot. The event kicks off with a few unexpected moments that set the tone for the day – true to Meat Fight fashion.
Once inside, lucky VIPs will have the advantage of fast-pass lanes for quicker access to food and beverages. But all guests will be able to get their fill of snacks, sweets and beverages. There’ll also be games and other assorted tomfoolery.
The goal of Meat Fight 1K is to raise $20,000 for the Pediatric MS Research portion of Meat Fight’s work through UT Southwestern. Proceeds benefit pediatric MS research through UT Southwestern and support Meat Fight programs that help people living with MS stay active, including Meat Bike, Meat Hike, and Project 13, as well as the organization’s MS Research Endowment and the National MS Society.
