M.F.K. Fisher Symposium for Women in Food & Storytelling,
12:00 am
Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI) and the Nashville chapter of LDEI are proud to announce the inaugural M.F.K. Fisher Symposium for Women in Food & Storytelling, set to take place April 4-5, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Symposium honors the legacy of M.F.K. Fisher, an iconic voice in food writing, by creating a platform for women to elevate their careers and celebrate their contributions to food media. The curated program of panels, workshops, and discussions led by trailblazing women in food and storytelling will allow attendees to explore the intersections of food and media, network with industry leaders, and gain fresh perspectives on the evolving landscape of food journalism. Limited to just 200 attendees, the event aims to foster intimate, interactive experiences that allow participants to connect meaningfully with speakers and peers.
Les Dames will host Ruth Reichl, former editor-in-chief of Gourmet magazine and renowned New York Times restaurant critic, as the keynote speaker. Reichl will join award-winning journalist and editor Toni Tipton-Martin for an engaging conversation that promises to set the tone for this dynamic and empowering event.
On behalf of the Toni Tipton-Martin Foundation, The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, Les Dames d’Escoffier International Chicago Chapter, and Les Dames d’Escoffier International Sonoma Chapter, 12 scholarships will be awarded to women pursuing careers in food media. Scholarships include registration fees, travel stipends, and accommodations. Applications are due January 31, 2025, and winners will be announced in February.
