Dine Out for Seniors
12:00 am Portland, Oregon
Store to Door, a Portland-based non-profit, today announced that on Tuesday, Aug. 30 23 Portland-area restaurants will participate in Dine Out for Seniors by donating 10 to 20 percent of their sales to support Store to Door. For more than 25 years, Store to Door has supported independent living for Portland area seniors and people with disabilities by providing a low-cost, volunteer-based grocery shopping and delivery service.
“Dining out at any of our great partner restaurants is an easy way to support our program that helps low-income elders maintain their independence, increase their social supports and access other services that support aging-in-place,” said Amanda McIver, Volunteer Outreach Manager for Store to Door.
Each year Store to Door serves 600 home-bound Oregonians by delivering over 8,000 grocery orders, and these numbers will continue to grow. Store to Door is supported by more than 700 volunteers each year, who give over 17,000 volunteer hours to make this service happen.
Store to Door’s services make a difference for seniors and people with disabilities in our community.
A Store to Door Client said, “I used to go days without eating and was too ashamed to ask for help. Store to Door has changed my life.”
