While in its early stages, blockchain technology is being explored by many of the world’s largest companies, as it maintains a digital ledger of transactions rather than a physical one, leading to the faster, more secure traceability of products. GS1 has developed a position paper describing the transformative aspects of blockchain when used in combination with global standards.
