Active Shooter Training and Informational Seminar

The NYC Hospitality Alliance and Allstar Security will host an Active Shooter training and informational seminar for nightlife and restaurant operators with New York Police Department’s Counterterrorism Unit. The seminar will take place on Monday, July 18 from 2- 4 p.m. on the first floor at Hudson Guild Center, 119 Ninth Ave., New York City, between 17th and 18th streets.

Active shooter situations are unpredictable, evolve quickly and vary greatly from one attack to another. An Active Shooter is defined as an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area. In most cases, active shooters use firearm(s) and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims. In some recent attacks in New York City and elsewhere, these workplace violence events spill beyond the intended victim. This program presented by the NYPD Counterterrorism Bureau will explore recommendations to mitigate the risks from active shooter attacks. The NYPD developed this program based on analysis of past active shooter incidents and careful reviews of previous studies.

While this training session is tailored to building security personnel it also provides guidance to individuals, including managers and employees, so they can prepare to respond to an active shooter situation.
