Restaurants are constantly busy, which means communication is key to make sure the experience for customers is top of the line. Two-way radios, help restaurant staff communicate more efficiently leading to a better experience for the guests. With fast communication your guests receive the service they deserve each time they enter your establishment in a timely and effective manner. Let’s look at how two-way radios can benefit your restaurant and staff in helping provide a better service for your customers.
Quick Communication
Two-way radios provide fast and efficient communication amongst staff. In a busy restaurant atmosphere, shouting out orders in the kitchen or needing to speak with someone in the front of the house can slow communication and the orders getting out to the customers. Using two-way radios allows staff to communicate directly with one another at the push of a button. The ease of use and quick communication allows staff members to be on the same page when it comes to orders so they can get them out to the customers quicker.
Work Together
Everyone in the restaurant from the front of the house to the back must work together as one team to provide the best service possible. Two-way radios, or walkie-talkies, help workers in these areas better understand their needs when it comes to service. The host can speak with management if there is any sort of issue, the servers can relay customer needs like food allergies to the kitchen so they can prepare for the order. Having this quick form of communication allows for the restaurant to perform at a high level without having to slow down each time some small situation arises.
Communication also helps servers and hosts discuss when tables are ready allowing for faster turnover while providing a quiet form of communication allowing for a calm atmosphere.
Helping Customers
Customers always like when their needs are taken care of in a time efficient manner. Two-way radios help workers respond quickly to these customer’s needs. For example, if a customer can’t eat certain foods, let’s say gluten, servers can speak directly with the kitchen immediately to make sure there isn’t anything lost in translation on a ticket.
Another example is if there is a spill or a glass is broken, staff can speak quickly to get the tools they need to clean up the mess. Fast communication shows customers that the restaurant cares about the service they are providing and wants to make their experience is one they will remember.
Provide Safety
Keeping staff, and customers safe should always be a priority within any restaurant. Two-way radios help workers communicate effectively in case of an emergency. If there is an emergency staff can communicate to other members or management to get the right emergency response needed. For example, a customer starts choking on a piece of food. The server at the table doesn’t know how to respond but the manager on duty is CPR certified. The server can quickly communicate to the manager to come to the table and help the customer while others contact emergency officials.
Two-way radios also allow for quiet discussions in case of an emergency. The last thing you want is for a staff member to scream out fire and everyone bolt for the exits. Using walkie-talkies allows for the right emergency protocol to be put in place and for customers to safely exit the building without making a dangerous situation even worse.
Using two-way radios in restaurants is not only about working more efficiently, but also about making the customer’s experience the best it can be. Quick communication amongst staff, working together more efficiently, helping customers faster and providing a safe environment are all made easier with two-way radio communication. As technology continues improving, two-way radios will only become more efficient making your restaurant experience a great one for all customers.
