Fifth-Annual Charlie Trotter Days

Honoring the legacy of culinary giant Chef Charlie Trotter, The Trotter Project invites the hospitality community to offer a beverage, dish, or menu for Charlie Trotter Days, Wednesday, August 15 – Sunday, August 19. The fundraising efforts allow the restaurant industry and public to support young scholars through the non-profit’s Pillars of Excellence Program – an initiative designed to educate, mentor, and provide scholarships for culinary and hospitality in underserved communities. Guests are invited to dine, drink, and experience specially-designated items from partner restaurants during the five days with a portion of proceeds directly benefitting the 501(c)(3).

“In its fifth year, Charlie Trotter Days is bigger than ever,” said The Trotter Project Executive Director Derrek Hull. “Dozens of dazzling new and limited menu items will be available at restaurants all over the country, in an effort to help fund deserving young scholars in the culinary and hospitality industries. This program allows Chef Charlie Trotter’s legacy to live on in cultivating a new group of culinary talent.”

“United Airlines will once again donate $1 for every item that is sold from our Bistro on Board menu so that we can help fund scholarships that support the next generation of culinary and hospitality professionals,” said Charlean Gmunder, United’s Vice President of Catering Operations. “In the two previous years we have done this, thanks to the support of our customers, we have funded five full-time scholarships, a fitting way to honor the legacy of Chef Charlie Trotter.”

In addition to United Airlines support, the commitment of the hospitality community continues with Chef Works. The global leader in culinary and hospitality apparel, as part of its Chef Appreciation Week promotion (Aug. 12 to Aug. 18), Chef Works will be offering 15 percent off all online orders with 10 percent of those proceeds going directly to The Trotter Project.
